As the World Heritage Sites stamps were a joint issue with Australia, we set out to find a link between the 2 countries.

Inspiration struck: what about Captain Cook?

Captain Cook & the "discovery" of Australia

In 1768, Cook commanded a ship called The Endeavour, which left England to search for an "unknown southern land". The Endeavour voyaged along the coast of New Zealand and was the first European vessel to make landfall on the eastern coast of Australia.

To our delight, we discovered that a replica of The Endeavour was sailing to Sydney, arriving just days before the new stamps were released!

Never one to miss a challenge, Tony decided to carry our covers onboard, even though the timings were terrifying . . . and we had no-one to collect them in Australia! Like all his crazy cover ideas though, it came off. Even if we did all get a few more grey hairs.
